Water | Raisins |
Granulated Sugar | Butter |
Wash and remove core, not quite to the bottom. Place in baking dish. In center of each apple, place 1-2 tablespoons sugar mixed with 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon and a few raisins. Dot with butter. Place 1 cup of water around apples and bake covered in moderate oven (375 degrees) for about 45 minutes or until tender.

"For a more intense apple flavor, substitute apple juice for water. Also, use cinnamon red hots for a slightly different cinnamon flavor." - Calla Ferre
"I have fond memories of Mom making these for us when I was a kid. For a quick version of this, peel and slice apples. Put into a microwave safe bowl with a little water or apple juice, cinnamon and sugar. Microwave until apples are tender and translucent. Makes for a wonderful treat on cold autumn nights." - April Ferre
