Bon Bon Cookies

1 Cups Dates, Finely Cut 1/8 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup Walnuts, Chopped 1/3 Cup Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 Egg White Red And Green Food Coloring

Combine dates, nuts, and vanilla. Form into balls about the size of hazel nuts. Beat egg white and salt until stiff. Gradually add sugar; beat well. Add vanilla. Divide in half. Add one drop green food coloring to one half and one drop red food coloring to the other. Using two teaspoons, roll balls in meringue, swirl top. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 30 cookies.
