2 Pounds Chopped Seedless Raisins 1 Level Teaspoon Cloves 1 Pound Cleaned Currants 1 Tablespoon Nutmeg 1 Cup Chopped Citron 1 Cup Sugar 4 Cups Flour 1 Cup Sorghum Syrup 1 Heaping Teaspoon Baking Soda 1 Cup Shortening 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon 1 Cup Strong Cold Coffee
Mix together fruit with 1/2 cup flour. In separate bowl, combine remaining flour, baking soda, and spices. Blend together, sugar, sorghum syrup, shortening and coffee. Add dry ingredients until just moistened. Bake slowly (300-325 degrees) for an hour or longer. Makes 2 cakes.
