Pow-Wow Sandwiches

1/2 Pound Sliced Bacon 1/3 Cup Sweet Pickle Relish
2 1/2 Ounces Dried, Pressed (Chipped) Beef 6 Hamburger Buns
3/4 Cup Catsup 6 Slices Cheese

Fry bacon crisp. Drain. Add chipped beef, catsup, and pickle relish. Spread on one half of buns. Top each with a slice of cheese. Place top on buns and wrap sandwiches in foil. Heat in slow oven (325 degrees) for 25 minutes. Makes 6 sandwiches.

Alternate Proportions (Makes 8 Sandwiches): 4 Ounces (2 Packages) Chipped Beef, 1/2 Pound Bacon, 3/4 Cup Catsup, 1/3 Cup Sweet Pickle Relish, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, 8 Hamburger Buns.

"I've never run across a more unique hot sandwich.  I remember them fondly from my childhood.  I tend to use the alternate proportions, because I like more meat on my sandwiches, and also since hamburger buns come in packages of 8, these proportions make it easier.  Besides, if you are feeding more than one person, you are going to want sandwiches!  They are addicting!  I also like to top each with a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese." - April Ferre
