Superb Chocolate Frosting

1 6-Oz Package Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup Dairy Sour Cream 2 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

Melt chocolate chips over hot water or on very low heat. Remove from heat. Blend in sour cream, vanilla and salt. Gradually beat in powdered sugar until smooth. If too soft to spread, refrigerate briefly. Makes filling and frosting for two 8 or 9 inch layers.

2000 Recipe - April Ferre - From Knudsen's Cooking for Compliments, 1977.

"This is one of my very favorite chocolate frostings for layer cakes.  It is smooth and creamy and spreads really easily and cleanly." - April Ferre
