1 Cup Shortening 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1/2 Teaspoon Salt 2 Eggs 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon 1/2 Cup Sour Milk Or Buttermilk 2 Cups Rolled Oats 1 3/4 Cup Flour 1 Cup Raisins, Optional 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda 1/2 Cup Nuts, Chopped (Optional)
Mix thoroughly shortening sugar and eggs. Stir in sour milk or buttermilk. Sift together and stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in oats, raisins and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until lightly browned at 400 degrees, about 8-10 minutes. Makes 5 1/2 dozen cookies.
