Early 1900s Recipe - Calla Stacker
Calla Ferre - Santa Cruz County Fair: 1st Place (1984), 2nd Place (1985) , 3rd Place (1986)
"My father was a school teacher, and when school was out for the summer, he would help bring in the cherry crops in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. One summer they had crews of women cherry pickers come up from the South. It was the first time he'd ever met a black person. I remember him saying how nice and how hard working all the girls were, and commenting that they were just like everybody else. My father would bring some cherries home and we would use this recipe to make a pie." - Jean Hansen
"This is a recipe I grew up with and it has always turned out good. No need to look further for a basic cherry pie recipe." - Calla Ferre
